Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

Biggest moron police on earth these Americans. One shot in the leg or two and the guy is down, but nooo better is killing and screaming like a raped dog.
Hey, you can pay to take care of these stupid fucks for the rest of their lives. They don't listen to the police but maybe they will like you better. Give me you contact info and I'm sure I could find a few to hook you up with.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

So where on the internet is the news on this shooting i cant find it anywhere. Looks fake to me. Why would a hidden video cam be pointing at the door in the first place.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

A shot to the knee cap rather than emptying a clip would have sufficed.

The guy had a knife, not an M16.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

Aren't cops trained to only take kill shots?
I don't think they ever do arm/leg shots. The point is to stop the threat. Many people keep going after an arm or leg hit and that means you could die because of it.

It's always shoot to kill.

You can tell the cop felt bad about it. It's not like he was some macho scum that was looking for an excuse to put some bullets into someone.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

I work with mentally ill people every day. They don't have superhuman strength. I have average human strength at best, and I've never failed to subdue any of them, with no weapons at all, other than my hands, which are both registered as deadly weapons in the state of Oklahoma. I think it's ridiculous too, but state law requires it.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

I personally believed the cop handled it well. If someone is holding a weapon, and they lunge at you, mentally ill or not, that's pretty much game over. The cop didn't murder anyone. He shot someone who was a potential threat to him, his colleagues, his family, and in the end himself. The only person who died that day was the person who was the threat at that moment.

As to all the fools saying "Shoot the leg! Shoot the leg!", there's a simply saying that the cops around here say: Aim small, miss small. Meaning, you aim for a narrow body part like an arm or a hand or a head, you're liable to miss in the heat of the moment, even at short range. You aim for body mass because that's what you're most likely to hit. It's as simple as that.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

It's never the gore that gets me, its the distressed screams of those left behind.
As far as I saw, the officers did their jobs and kept their calm in a high-tension situation. He lunged with an offensive weapon with an unknown mental state, he gets shot. Shame the guy had to be shot but the cop had to do it and has to live with that. Which will probably eat him up.

I think maybe they should start carrying horse-tranq's in a blowdart or something though, tasers aren't always as effective as they should be.

Better him than me though!

hmmm, strange. because in the two short months i spent working with a bunch of crazies i met a few that took multiple security guys to detain. maybe yours are just weak sauce

and yeah, cops dont do the whole shoot-to-disable or warning shots stuff...thats a bunch of Hollywood crap. someone rushes them with a weapon and they fear for their life its shoot to kill

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

Look...I've spent 30 years in Houston, and I know that the city has some very trigger-happy cops....but most are great at their job. This officer did everything that he was supposed to do in this situation. He used his calm words, less-lethal means(tazer), and asked him many, many times to drop the knife. The man became a very serious, life-threatening person when he stood up quickly and came at the officer. The guy had to shoot in order to protect himself. You can see that this wasn't what he wanted to do....it'll probably haunt him forever, but he was correct in his actions. Quanell X is a fucking idiot......very rarely is he right....and he's a racist motherfucker to boot. A sad, but righteous outcome.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man

He tells him to drop the knife around 100 times, is asking for another taser to subdue him, audibly says,"GodDamnit" right before he gets charged and is visibly upset right after he has to shoot the guy. Cops get away with so much nowadays but imo that was justified. He was suicidal in the first place, looks to me like he chose suicide by cop.
