The Catholic Church, like most organized groups, is made up of men of stature. Religion has little to do with this. Faith has even less to do with it. There is another organized group that continues unchecked in pedophilia, and ephebophilia. They're not a religious group by any stretch of the imagination, and they're represented by the power structure in place for them. The recidivism rate is just as high in this group, but the participation rate is much higher than in the Catholic church. Yet, it rarely makes the news because it is not politically expedient to destroy the character of a non-religion. Funny that.

The Catholics denounce the use of condoms, but advocate for abstinence. In our culture - the secular culture - abstinence is not a realistic pursuit. But it is the best solution. Monogamy is also a best solution, but, again, the secular culture makes that impractical. The failures aren't in the faith - the culture has failed. Abstinence until marriage, and monogamy are unquestionably the best solutions to the spread of disease, and for fatherless children. But, let's not talk about that because it's easier to blame a group of religious zealots than it is to take responsibility for the culture we created or, at least, allowed to be created.

I'm a Christian. I think critically. I am quite logical. I'm the CTO of a fortune 1000 company. I didn't sacrifice my logic, or ability to think critically at the altar of the "Label Christians as Freaks" movement.

It's a cop-out to label what you don't understand as "void of logic, and critical thinking." Since not all of us - in fact, very few of us - adopt the extreme positions of rigid creationists.

The translation isn't quite right. The "reason" was for his beheading was that he didn't pray (anymore), being drunk all the time, and "a hundred of other things" (translated that literally lol). I didn't hear anything about him being a christian; but it might be true. These guys do make up every kind of reason just to execute people, and for a very different reason than you might think. A lot of young men are joining those factions, and it's absolutely imperative to make them as experienced and battle-hardened as possible. It doesn't get any more gruesome than beheading a guy, so as soon as that's over (or some lads need to do it a few times), killing and taking a life won't be as difficult as perhaps the first time. Now you have the experience in combination with an ideology that justifies the killing. Thanks Obama for training and funding those rebels

In nearly every case they abandoned the religions they leveraged but kept up the propaganda and hype. We see evidence of the effectiveness of this technique in incidents like Waco, Guyana (Jim Jones), and Heaven's Gate. The religions exploited have all "grown up" since then. Only one remains in the darkness from whence it was born. The politically correct thing to say is "all religions have done this or that."

The accurate thing to say is that now, in the 21st century, when it matters, there is only one religion that behaves this way en-masse: Islam.

Next people like to bring up ancient examples like The Inquisition, and The Crusades, and several English conquests involving the Church of England or the Catholic Church (thus indicting all Christians, as if they've behaved like Muslim radicals). In all of these "Christian" examples it still boiled down to individual men - narcissistic, ego-maniacal, and power-hungry men - wanting to obtain wealth and power through conquest.

Very few of the participants were Christians, save for the brainwashed few that were willing to propagate the lies and deceptions of their masters - hoping the crumbs from their tables would sustain them.

Organized religion as it has existed in the tormented past of Christianity was organized not by Christians, but by treacherous men. Christians, by Christ, more often than not, saw the lies and dissented - hence the enormous splintering that occurred in the Christian churches over the ages.

Obviously, using God to organize people has been a successful tactic over the centuries. But narcissistic men know they can't bear the brunt of the blame for the atrocities they commit - it isn't in their nature. They almost always require a scapegoat. And yes, all too often organized religion was that scapegoat - organized by the treacherous men.

The fact remains that the most heinous of men were, in fact, of no faith whatsoever - except for the faith in themselves. The real issue is placing faith in such men to begin with. Religion was used to breed superstitious people. But, now, when it really matters, superstition plays no role - not even in Islam.

Yet, of all religions, the only one that requires full control is Islam. Period.

So, stop with the bullshit about "religion is the cause of everything bad" and grow a set of balls and call a spade a spade. The only globally dangerous genocidal religion that matters right on this day is Islam. And until people can openly condemn them, we're spending way too much time talking about the past that we never seem to learn from.

Just. Stop.

There may very well be peaceful Muslims. Cool. Great. Awesome. They'll be spared because the rest of us don't intend on eliminating them. We do, however, want to eliminate those of their ilk that wish for the destruction of everything, and everyone that is not Muslim.
