Re: Container Truck Turning Right Runs Over Young Couple on E-bike
One would think that after witnessing these incidents day in and day out, they'd learn better. But nooooooooo!! It's probably the number one killer in their country. |

around here in the philippines, even when i am using a car, i never drive beside those trucks for long. im scared since tire maintenance over here is really lax and tire blow up is very common. those rubber flying can easily smash your windows or kill you. triple that caution when im using a motorcycle.

Exactly. Stay well ahead of, or behind, large trucks, and don't linger alongside them.

Re: Container Truck Turning Right Runs Over Young Couple on E-bike
When I talk to some of these people, which I do occasionally at stoplights, I always tell them: "You have a LOT of faith in the $30 Chinese tires that guy's boss is buying for his truck." I'm in the U.S. and this is a big danger here as well, not just in Asia or South America. Most truck tires are rated at a max speed of 65 mph. yet you see them here doing 75-80 all day long. I read somewhere that the energy contained in one truck tire is enough to lift a 2700 lb car 10 feet in the air. Both you and your motorcycle will be in shreds along the side of the road if this happens. Plus I've seen the vids on here of truck tires blowing up while the trucks were just driving along, not even at high speed. One video was the semi at a truck stop, just maneuvering to park.
