A 44-year-old community leader and teacher, Enilda E.R.B., president of the Community Action Board in her local neighbourhood, was killed by gunmen outside her home.

According to reports, two assailants on a motorcycle approached Enilda as she sat outside her home. The passenger dismounted and opened fire, killing her instantly. She had reportedly graduated earlier that day in community project management and was celebrating the achievement with a friend.

Enilda had survived a previous assassination attempt in the same area two years earlier and had reportedly received death threats in recent months. She had sought protection measures that were not provided. Authorities have not yet identified a motive.

She marks the 64th social leader murdered in Colombia so far this year. According to reports from the United Nations and international monitors, over 70% of these targeted assassinations are executed by armed non-state actors who view grassroots community leaders as direct threats to their territorial and economic dominance. Groups like the Clan del Golfo, renegade factions of Farc or ELN, National Liberation Army.
