Once again, a tragic traffic accident has taken lives on the Troncal del Oriente. This time, a married couple lost their lives after being run over by a dump truck while riding a motorcycle near the municipality of El Copey, Cesar.

The victims of this tragic road accident were identified as Luis D.M., and his wife, Yoleida E.

According to information provided by traffic authorities, the couple was traveling on a black and red Auteco Bajaj Boxer motorcycle. As they were passing through El Copey, for reasons still unknown, they were struck by a dump truck.

The violent collision ejected both riders from the motorcycle, after which they were run over by the truck's heavy wheels, suffering severe injuries across their bodies. Videos circulating on social media showed Luis on the pavement with visible head injuries, while his wife suffered the loss of both legs.

Emergency responders quickly arrived, and the couple was rushed by ambulance to the emergency room at the local hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were transferred to a hospital around 40 minutes away.

At the medical center, Luis succumbed to his injuries first, and just hours later, Yoleida also died after suffering several sudden heart attacks caused by the severity of her injuries from the accident.

It’s at least comforting (for me, who didn’t get squashed) to see people giving them some human kindness and care as they were dying. And that both of them did, not just her. I can only hope if I ever come across
