The IRA tried to bomb a police station in Ireland years ago and had a car bomb and machine gun crews in place but British intelligence knew it was coming and had the SAS on site waiting to ambush them. Needless to say it went tits up for the IRA and they were ripped to pieces. I forget the exact details but I think the bomb was detonated before they reached the objective. In any event the SAS executed all of them with extremely aggressive tactics, chasing down the fleeing terrorists and liquidating them before escape was possible.
