However, the news was quickly blocked by the police, and some netizens who filmed the video were threatened or even violently treated by the police.

In another video, a man wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt is seen sitting in the center of the square with his head down and back bent, seemingly being violently beaten. According to informed netizens, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on October 10 at Suning Plaza in Haizhou District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province . The self-immolation may have been caused by a problem with unpaid wages.
