I think he had a way better shot at surviving.

1. He had more space instead of being forced through a tiny gap.

2. His legs were the only part to really strike anything during the spin.

3. The spin was slower and for a far shorter duration.

4. He seems to curl himself afterwards to a more kneeling position.

I think he may have made it, but it is china and his organs are valuable, so I'm not 100%.
