Re: Chile Police - Motorcycle Turned Foot Pursuit Ends in Blood Squirting Headshot
I would like to be clear. I'm am in no way appeased by the fact that this thief was killed by the police. I certainly agree that everyone deserves to have a trial, and if found guilty, then possibly punished and rehabilitation. I completely disagree with the death penalty for the obvious reasons. (too many innocent people and or mentally handicapped people are executed) Also you lose part of your own humanity by carrying out an execution. But there are certain situations where it's kill or be killed. I'm not sure if this situation qualifies or not. If someone was trying to kill me and I was forced to, I'd kill in self defence. It would be a last resort though. Of course, if my wife was killed by someone, I would no longer be able to go on with my life. My life with my wife is the most precious thing that I have been fortunate enough to acquire. If that was taken from me, I highly doubt that I'd be able to hold true to my current moral standards. We all have a dark side buried in us. |

Maybe you should look into the story before commenting, apparently this little fuck ran down a cop in this stolen vehicle...and even if that proves to be false, fuck him...he called the dance, let him pay the band...stop cryin' over someone's poor life decisions leading to his death, he had a chance to surrender but chose to be a target instead |

Re: Chile Police - Motorcycle Turned Foot Pursuit Ends in Blood Squirting Headshot
I can't speak to the constitutional rights in Chile, but one would assume they have some level of due process...and I'm not in favor of use of deadly force in not violent crimes (theft, burglary, etc.), but this case appears to be different. You can argue that it may have been foolish to open fire on a crowded highway, but the suspect had the chance to surrender and since his crime involved injury to another officer, they weren't likely to let him get away...I have no sympathy for him. Regarding the death penalty, I don't support a total ban. I believe it should be an option for certain crimes, but used sparingly. This isn't because I'm overly concerned about 'losing my humanity', but for more pragmatic reasons: - It's unevenly applied based on sex, race, income, and geography. - It's applied to people who may possibly be mentally deficient, but these findings are largely ignored. - It's not a serious deterrent - It's incredibly expensive and time consuming in most states to adjudicate capital crime cases compared to a sentence of life/no parole. Regarding revenge, of course if a loved one was killed, we want the perpetrator to suffer as the victim did, that's human nature. But when we strip away the emotion and look at this rationally, most death penalty cases have little to do with justice and are all about revenge. It's not that I have a problem with that, but our constitution specifically the 8th amendment that does. |

Re: Chile Police - Motorcycle Turned Foot Pursuit Ends in Blood Squirting Headshot
When they first approach the vehicle: "Bájate... bájate, concha de tu madre!" "Get out... get out, son of a bitch!" At around 1:08 our police/cameraman declares that the individual collided with several vehicles and saw himself obligated to use lethal force and the subject is now dead. The pickup driver asks him if he was hit and he replies "no amigo, gracias" (no pal, thanks). At 2:17 he continues with his declaration, presumably over radio to his central, explaining how the subject got stuck in the traffic allowing them to reach the concha de tu madre. |
