Exactly. If he didn't abuse...and if he wasn't influenced to abuse then he would never have abused! So deserving is neither here nor there, the question should be "What's the best way to prevent future harm and suffering?" not "How best can we cause this person who was influenced by factors beyond their control pain and suffering?". You're calling into existence free will. Being able to choose without influence. Being ultimately responsible for your thoughts and feelings. Yet you acknowledge this isn't so as you explain why it is people hate him...you give a REASON. Just like he had reasons for his behaviours. It doesn't excuse what he did, it's just the reality that we're not in control or the authors of our thoughts and feelings, we just experience them. To do otherwise would be to think our thoughts before we think them. Impossible. |
