In all seriousness, you people saying "he got what he deserved" or "I'd do more than that to him" are bringing into existence the notion of free will, which has lots of good evidence for not actually existing.

Thus, maybe killing him was a way to prevent further harm and suffering, but we still can't blame the guy for what he did. We have to be better than that if you really want a society where this type of shit doesn't happen in the first place.

He didn't choose to abuse kids any more than people in this thread chose to vent their anger towards him. It's all cause and effect. What matters is that we try to correct it and use the best possible method we know at the time to prevent future harm and suffering.

You are disgusting making excuses for these scum who prey on children. You need an ass kicking. If I was in a room with you, Hitler, and an ISIS leader,and had a six shot revolver, I would shoot Hitler and the ISIS leader with one bullet each and save the last 4 bullets for you.

Exactly. If he didn't abuse...and if he wasn't influenced to abuse then he would never have abused!

So deserving is neither here nor there, the question should be "What's the best way to prevent future harm and suffering?" not "How best can we cause this person who was influenced by factors beyond their control pain and suffering?".

You're calling into existence free will. Being able to choose without influence. Being ultimately responsible for your thoughts and feelings. Yet you acknowledge this isn't so as you explain why it is people hate him...you give a REASON.

Just like he had reasons for his behaviours. It doesn't excuse what he did, it's just the reality that we're not in control or the authors of our thoughts and feelings, we just experience them.

To do otherwise would be to think our thoughts before we think them. Impossible.
