Chicken Cart Vendor Shot Dead Whilst Opening Up His Business
Guayaquil, Ecuador A 33-year-old chicken vendor, Luis A.E., was preparing to open his chicken stall when he was approached by a gunman, who shot him at close range. Police who responded to the scene picked up "two pieces" of ballistic evidence. Extortion or illegal protection rackets are the two main lines of motive considered. |

On the bright side: Recent Ecuadorian food safety research reveals a high prevalence of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli and multidrug-resistant Salmonella strains (particularly S. Typhimurium and S. Infantis) in street-vended ready-to-eat foods. These specific strains can cause community infections that are exceptionally difficult to treat with standard antibiotics. |

I can’t think of anything worse than seeing a loved one shot dead in the face. One minute they’re here and life is normal then bang your life changes in an instant and not for the better. |
