Re: Careless Teen Kills His Firearms Instructor, Flees Scene
How about that vid of the little girl in pink shorts shooting her instructor with an uzi by accident? The pro-gunners must be tickled. Afterall, this is what you all want isn't it? Guns flooding every inch of the USA? I feel safer already....um no. Actually I feel perfectly safe where I live and I assume that most people don't have guns in my town. Maybe a few hunters, but that's it. I would feel much LESS safe walking around town if I thought that every single person had a gun. More guns=less safe. |

Re: Careless Teen Kills His Firearms Instructor, Flees Scene
Additionally the problem is education. If you properly educate people, they get jobs, and live productive lifestyles. They produce productive offsprings that can function in a society of mixed cultures that enjoy learning about differences and new perspectives. If you don't educate your citizens very well, you end up with teen pregnancy, single parent families, low income households, lack of skills/direction, lack of motivation etc. This leads to crime. Many of these uneducated people get jobs in LAW ENFORCEMENT or end up joining gangs. Then flood the streets with guns and you suddenly have a bunch of people with lots of prejudices against people different than themselves, with no direction and lots of guns with bullets. Suddenly it might seem like you need to go buy a gun to protect you and yours from the growing violence in society and in the police department. The reality is that you are only applying a Band-Aid to a sore. You aren't correcting the problem. If your society is functioning properly, you would not need guns or have any desire to walk around with one in order to feel safe. Not sure where America is headed, as I watch from Ontario. It seems like there is some good change (marijuana slowly legalizing, and a fraction of progress in healthcare) but there is a lot of bad change as well. All countries need to have individuality but there are certain things that the civilized population will leave behind. The right-wing attitude that America is the "best country in the world" will always be the biggest downfall of America. Maybe someday the American gov't will realize that there are other countries with WAAAAAY less violence, way less crime, less poverty, FREE healthcare, lower taxes, booming economies, and no GUNZZZZ. In Toronto, Ontario last summer that cop shot that guy Sammy Yatim on the streetcar last summer. This was the first time I'd heard of an unnecessary or excessive police shooting in Canada. Well the cop was charged with 2nd degree murder. We don't allow our police to randomly issue death sentences in public whether the guy has a knife or not. Additionally, most cops around here aren't fucking assholes. Sure, there are some, but generally around here most people help strangers in need regardless of their skin colour or 'net worth'. America= Canada= Yeah, go ahead. Keep mocking us for having a ridiculously small military, and a ridiculously HUGE amount of land and FREE healthcare and a CRAZY SOLID real estate market. Yes, we are America's much more mature older brother...Canada. We don't need guns, we don't need a military. |

Re: Careless Teen Kills His Firearms Instructor, Flees Scene
That's what many people on this site said before they were victims of a random crime, and not all are guns...knives make up much more of the homicides than you think. But whatever, you and a few others here keep thinking you live in a utopia. And if you think where you live only has a "few" guns around...think again. What you mean is YOU don't have them, all the criminals do. Good luck with that. |
