Re: Car Wreck Carnage in Jacksonville, FL

You’re not to touch them dumb dumb.
It's blatantly obvious none of these people are first responders, or have any first aid training. It's not so easy for the average layperson to render aid to a mangled body. It has nothing to do with racism.

Also, the girl standing over the teenager was on the phone with emergency services.

It's easy to sit her on these forums and run your mouth about what people should be doing. Unfortunately we don't work that way in real life. Most people are in shock, or having adrenaline rush just witnessing such carnage. As an ex-firefighter I've seen my fair share of brutal accidents. The people that were usually willing to comfort the mangled bodies on the scene were often current or former hospital/medical workers. So they seeing someone bent an unnatural way, face half gone, and missing a limb wasn't unfamiliar to them.

It's a pretty helpless feeling for a lot of these folks in this video. Obviously they want to be able to do something, but they're faced with the harsh reality that they don't have any means to do anything. But yeah, go head and act like you'd be Johnny-On-The-Spot.

I live in Southwest Florida and have been through Jacksoffville. It needs to be bulldozed and a landfill would be an improvement. What a cesspool.

Re: Car Wreck Carnage in Jacksonville, FL

Why does everyone assume the person writhing around without a face is the 17 year old? All the articles say it was the mother who was ejected from the car. I bet it's the daughter near the start of the video laying next to their car, not dead, but unconscious or in shock.

A more recent article quoted here said the 17 year old went to the hospital without 'life threatening injuries'. There's no way that description applies to the writhing person who was thrown 30 yards from the crash site.

Re: Car Wreck Carnage in Jacksonville, FL

public road racers should be executed on the spot.
great find
A little harsh. But it is awfully stupid and dangerous. Obviously.

I many years ago at 3 AM found myself racing some guy on the freeway. I was about 2 car lengths ahead of him when he got a little aggressive with his steering. Possibly trying to change lanes too quickly. I don't really know what he did to start it. Alm I know is I looked in the rear view mirror and he's fish tailing right then left then right. Then his tires caught the road as he was facing south on and east west road. Going 90 at least and on an overpass.

He probably for a split second felt relief as we just passed the area of concrete dividers. But on the side of the road there is a little lip then a steep down hill grass area. With a huge light pole about 30 feet down.

Dude hit that lip and it kinda launched his car in combination with the steep down hill angle his car flew in the air all the way to head on with that pole.

I can still see him when I think about it. Both hands on the wheel like he was trying to push himself through his seat into the back seat.

I still feel a little bad for my part when I pass that pole that still has RIP spray painted on it some 20 years later. Only a little though, since he was the one seeking out the race, and running his mouth, revving his engine and tailgating me.

I guess my point is that was the only time I ever raced on the road. Before and since. Sometimes it's just a heat of the moment thing.

Still, street racing doesn't kill nearly as many as texting.
