That got the adrenaline going. Maybe he could've gotten away if he hadn't stopped at the end...I think that slip on the wet pavement or whatever stunned him a little and threw off his running game. Too bad for him. It looked to me like he warned a girl in the store to run away - final good deed?

You know what, on second glance I think you're right (I guess my penchant to want to think the best of everyone leads me astray sometimes). In that case, he probably got what he deserved... ...come to think of it, he might have gotten far enough ahead to get away if he hadn't paused to grab an uncooperative human shield. Irony.
