In war, being unarmed doesn't mean you're not the enemy, and not a threat. It's possible he was enemy, and they had to decide to shoot him, let him go, or chase after him. All bad decisions in war. Let him go, he might be the guy who takes you out tomorrow. Or he gets down the road and call in your position to his friends. Can't really give chase without taking huge exposure risks. Shooting him will cause backlash from people who don't understand wars cannot be won without killing as many enemies as possible. |

So he obliged. Relying on his trusty rack-a-ma'zam motorcycle to whisk him thru a round-trip life-or-death consequence. Although hoping it wasn't a matter of his own one-way trip death consequence. |
