Cancun.- An armed attack early yesterday claimed the lives of a cabbie and his passenger. A young woman was injured being a collateral victim. She was taken to the General Hospital.

The body of the cabbie, identified by his card as M. E. N, 51 years old and his passenger, were left lifeless inside the taxi.

The young woman who was shopping in a grocery store when she heard the detonations ran, suffered a limb injury and was taken to the General Hospital by paramedics.

The attack took place at 1:45 am near the a wine store.

The authorities of the emergency number 911 activated the Red Code when they reported shots in the aforementioned address, at least a half dozen patrols attended the place.

Paramedics from the Red Cross also arrived, who confirmed that the two occupants of the taxi no longer had vital signs.

They cordoned off the area, then handed it over to the staff of the State Attorney General's Office, who until 3 in the morning finished the processing and removal of the bodies.

A hypothesis of the police authorities indicated that the occupants of the taxi were apparently carrying out a drug purchase and sale and armed individuals arrived in a blue vehicle and shot them several times.
