What a horrible way to go out. It looks to be 5th floor? I would first try to get onto the balcony just below. If that didn't work i would take the plunge and hope by some miracle i only have broken legs. I definitely wouldn't just stand there and become a human barbecue.

Looks like they're pretty high up there. My guess would be the fire department was aiming from the ground, and didn't have a ladder truck with them. I don't even know if those countries HAVE ladder trucks!
