That was the most heinous of crimes, pulling the mother right from the arms of her child and as cold heartedly as ever, executed her right in front of the child, who undoubtedly went over to her deceased body afterwards- the child will suffer much worse much longer, makes me angry.

Venezuela has a strong family culture, even among thugs and cartel members. It's intriguing to me that this family oriented culture probably contributed to them wanting to kill her out of sight of her daughter, but not enough for them to do it ACTUALLY out of her daughters sight and earshot. In Venezuelan prisons, for example, they have family days when family members actually venture into the prisons and stay there (many if not most of the prisons there are run by armed gangs, the guards just stay on the border and keep them all in), starting fights or causing any other trouble on during family visits can result in a severe beating or execution, so it's intriguing to me that this is acceptable. Maybe this cartel was deliberately flouting the "rules" to make their mark. I'm not sure.
