A 38-year-old man, Esiel C.d.S., was shot dead on a public street on Monday morning (17).

CCTV footage captured Esiel walking his young daughter to school when a car approached them, after which several shots were fired. The girl was not hit.

While the motive presently remains unconfirmed, it is known Esiel possessed a criminal record for drug trafficking.

Esiel C.d.S was the name on his birth certificate but he was known by the nickname Nininho Araquan and the Araquans are a famous farmers clan that had and have a blood feud, together with the Gonçalves farmers clan, against the Benvindo, the Nogueira, the Simões de Medeiros (known as Russo) and the Gonçalves da Silva clans (called the Cláudio).

They signed a peace agreement 26 years ago after over 100 people on both sides got killed but that agreement doesn't hold up all the time. They went from farming to marijuana cultivation and bought weapons after an argument between two teens from both families inside a bar resulted in one getting killed and the blood feud began

The crime happened on Rua 1, in the Loteamento Recife neighborhood. Security camera footage recorded the moment when the victim, identified as Esiel Cavalcante de Sá, also known as "Nininho Araquan", was crossing the street with the child when an HB20 model car approached. One of the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots at the man.

Esiel was hit and died on the spot. His daughter, who was next to him, was not injured. Frightened, the girl ran desperately into the arms of her mother, who left the house when she heard the shots and the child's screams. Teams from the Military Police of Pernambuco (PMPE) isolated the area. The Civil Police (PCPE) and the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) were also called for the forensic examination and removal of the body.

The perpetrator and motivation of the crime are still unknown. The Civil Police opened an inquiry to investigate the case. No one has been arrested so far.
