Re: Brazilian Man is Fatally Stabbed in the Leg During Fight
But that’s my point… surely you’d bleed out even more if you lost an entire limb, but people survive these things. There must be a scientific reason.

Just because you exert pressure around the circumference of the leg, does not mean the small artery inside is even affected by it.

Re: Brazilian Man is Fatally Stabbed in the Leg During Fight
When extremities are traumatically ripped away, the body responds quite well and clamps down on blood vessels, preventing a fast bleeding out. A small puncture to an artery or vein doesn’t cause the same response. |

Re: Brazilian Man is Fatally Stabbed in the Leg During Fight
Despite the comments, FYI this appears as a lower extremity popliteal artery inury (lateral, posterior lower extremity ). Femoral Artery is higher near the groin and runs inside the leg not outwardly where the blood was spraying. The guy on ground while being kicked grabbed at the assaulters left leg to protect him self from being kicked or hold onto the leg, and cut the back of the kickers knee/Upper Calf, where the popliteal artery passes.

Re: Brazilian Man is Fatally Stabbed in the Leg During Fight
As I see it, the puncture appears to be on the posterior thigh a couple of inches above the popliteal fossa. Technically, that would make it the superficial femoral artery. It's still the same vessel, so not not a huge issue. |
