São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil

On the morning of Tuesday 29th April, a routine operation carried out by the Special Police Operations Battalion ended in a confrontation in the Estiva area of São Luís.

According to police information, two suspects reacted during the operation by firing gunshots at the police officers. In the shootout, one of the suspects, identified as “Diego”, was shot. He was taken to a local hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

During the operation, the police seized a 9 mm pistol that was in the suspect’s possession. According to the State Secretariat for Public Security, the suspect had five police records, including involvement in drug trafficking and threats.

Those wounds on his neck & chest look like slash wounds. Also, it looks like he was strangled with that black strap around his neck. Methinks there is more to this story.
