Re: Brazil - Teenage Girl Dead After Being Hit by a Car
Regarding speed: The driver didn't appear to be going any faster than the other vehicles. Someone smarter than me would have to time and measure the distance traveled using the lamp posts or something else to confirm that. As for taking evasive maneuvers: He did, sort of. At the beginning of the frames his passenger-side wheels were close to and along the dashed line, maybe even on it. By the time he got to the girls (who were now running into him) he was clearly left (his left) of that line by a few feet; therefore, he must have been veering left. Side note: Before I had read anything about this incident, I watched the video first and wrongfully assumed they were leaving the prison after visiting someone locked up (the razor wire gets me every time). I was very surprised to read "going to church" and am calling BS on that. The were not wearing their Sunday best and no matter where you live, 07 APR 2022 is a Thursday. |

There's retarded Latin American laws for you, unlike in America, the law never protects the citizens, this is the norm in most Latin American countries if not all. No white people ruling there. |

Re: Brazil - Teenage Girl Dead After Being Hit by a Car
You think he was speeding? He doesn't look to be going all that fast. It doesn't look like he's going any faster than any of the other vehicles in the clip. Speed wasn't a contributing factor to the incident anyway. He could have crept up on them at 10 km/h and they still would have had no clue. That was 100% the pedestrians fault. If the driver was charged with anything over that it's just plain wrong.

Re: Brazil - Teenage Girl Dead After Being Hit by a Car
Indeed, also the bikes were going faster as this car but i don't know the speed limit there on that stretch of road though. Maybe and highly likely he saw the girls strolling and calculated that he could still pass them in that pace in his lane but when he came closer they heard the noise of the car, got startled and started to run so the guy steered to his left and then to his right to avoid that lamp post. There's way more room to bypass them on the right, and honk, and drive slower as you never know with people (and animals) that are on the road as he had plenty of time to come to that conclusion imo. All could be prevented by the girls just looking left and right while crossing. The mother told in an interview that justice doesn't exist. “He doesn't stay in prison, my daughter is in prison, I'll never see her again. The pain who is feeling is me. I want him to be face to face with me. A caretaker of a club that is in front of the accident site, Pedro, said that the vehicle was at high speed. Witnesses are almost always choosing the victim's side and in shocking events like this one witnesses are usally pretty useless (in court) as their brain scramble up things. |

As a driver or a pedestrian, always best to assume any other driver is an idiot. You'll live longer.

Re: Brazil - Teenage Girl Dead After Being Hit by a Car
Very bad brain genetics with those two who obviously missed one of momma's first lessons in life once they learned to walk - look both ways. Enjoyable though. Not quite up there with the video of the two chinese girls walking on the highway at night when suddenly one of them... disappears, but enjoyable |
