Ecuador, M.P.P, 36, was doing his work collecting solid waste on the street in the bike lane when he was run over by a motorist that was caught by police and tested positive for alcohol. The car also crashed into another car and a house. The municipal worker, who died instantly on the road, was married and leaves three orphaned minor children. According to article 376 of the Comprehensive Penal Code (Coip), this type of event is punished - with the aggravating circumstance of alcohol consumption - with imprisonment for ten to twelve years and the revocation of the driver's license for life.
