Re: Brazil: Man Ran Over By Garbage Truck

~ I bet he was too slow & low because of his support cane, & the garbage truck driver was too fast & too high up to bother seeing him.

Re: Brazil: Man Ran Over By Garbage Truck

Brazil, A garbage collecting truck ran over and killed J.P.C, 50, last Friday night. The driver of the truck did not see the man when making a maneuver and ended up running over him.

The victim had his skull crushed and lost a lot of brain mass, dying instantly. The truck driver presented himself to the Civil Police Station, where he testified and was later released.

The victim lived in the neighborhood about 300 meters from where the accident took place. At around 7 pm, he was on a street corner when the truck driver tried to maneuver and started the reverse gear, not realizing that J.P was behind the vehicle.

According to witnesses, the defendant's audible signal was working normally, but the victim was hearing impaired and also had a shorter leg, which forced him to walk with the help of crutches.

Because of this, he would not have noticed the approach of the truck, nor was he able to get out of the vehicle's route in time.

The truck passed over his head and chest, causing his skull to be crushed completely. The Military Police were at the scene, along with the Civil Police and Municipal Guard. The Samu was called by residents, but the victim died on the spot, with no chance of being rescued.

A Scientific Expertise team was called and carried out the expertise, then the body was removed to the Legal Medical Institute (IML). From there, he will be released for the family to hold the wake and burial. The garbage truck driver and the collectors who witnessed the accident testified to the Civil Police.
