Re: Brainless Guy Taking His Last Few Breath
Considering breathing is done by a muscle called the diaphragm, then the brain isn't really required. We all get hiccups right?!

Re: Brainless Guy Taking His Last Few Breath
Seen a lot of high velocity head-shots, looks exactly like a sniper took a shot, maybe thought the kid had a gun (or maybe the kid did have a gun; it's Syria. The Medulla is only about the size of a small egg & sits in the very bottom of the skull...only need a little bit of it left to give you spontaneous resps. Saw a guy moaning & yelling like this, same thing, no brains in his head..... |

Re: Brainless Guy Taking His Last Few Breath
The body is still alive at the cellular level (will die after a few minutes of oxygen deprivation), the breathing functions are controlled by the brainstem which must be intact in this case for the body to have the breathing reflex but the brain and grey matter (which gives the person consciousness is obviously missing) so higher functions are no longer active in this guy, he doesn't feel a thing (No brain to process that), the body is alive in the same sense an amputated hand is alive for a while and can be reimplanted on a person, but a hand has no conscience of existing, just like the body in this video.
