Aunt Jemima pancake mix use to offer a Buckwheat pancake mix which was the best I ever tasted. From what I understand, it is only rarely (if ever) offered any more. To me, that is the real pity in this whole sordid tale.  |

Quaker released a replacement recipe when they discontinued their Buckwheat mix, here it is. Who loves you more than Gimlet? Aunt Jemima Buckwheat Pancake Makeover SERVES: 10 YIELD: 10 Pancakes UNITS: US Ingredients Nutrition 3⁄4 cup aunt jemima original pancake mix 1⁄3 cup buckwheat flour (Dark) 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder Directions Combine 1 cup of above mix with 3/4 cup of milk, 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of oil. This is the official "replacement" recipe that Quaker posted after stopping production of their Buckwheat Pancake Mix"  · |

I forgot, have you tried Aunt Jemima's Whole Wheat pancake mix? It is still around, and makes awesome waffles too. Here is what the box looks like. BTW, they changed Aunt Jemima's look over the years, got rid of her bandanna and made her "professional" looking, as you can see on this box. All USA blacks are lawyers or doctors or engineers now in commercials and popular media, so they had to reflect societal progress...  · |
