Gun control fail, law-abiding citizens in Nigeria are limited to shotguns which are pretty well useless beyond 50-75 yards while an AK fired for accuracy (semi auto, aimed fire) is easily effective at 300 yards which on open ground like that is vitally important.

If the villagers had even a few obsolete mausers or enfields they could have at least put up a token defense rather than getting shot like fish in a barrel while the villains likely got away unscathed.
