To be honest the guy did come out with a gun in his hand... That was dumb to start. At the same time there was several officers with ARs aimed at his body. The shooting was a little early, barely gave him the chance to react.

To be completely honest, with the experience I have gained in the real world, I am disapointed in the mentality of training that has become of some of the thoughts of mind in law enforcement circles. Twenty years ago, this call would have been handled with the police setting up a containment, and waiting on a Swat team to show up, which has specific skills and training on deescalation, not to mention the equipment.

But now they give every officer an AR-15 and some agencies completely rid themselves of Swat. In many large departments that have Swat getting into it can be as hard or even harder than getting on the force itself, namely because of the high standards you have to meet both physically and mentally.

It is a pity that many law enforcment agencies have stooped down from such excellence to what it is today.
