Re: Bodies Of Afghans Who Fell From Plane

A kind of desperation that Americans will never understand with their first world lives. This is what people who are scared of real oppression looks like.
Sorry, but if they were REALLY scared of oppression, maybe they should have fought harder for their country.
Everyone is blaming Biden for this, when it has NOTHING to do with him at all. The entire country folded up in 1 week.
That shows how good things were going, which is to say, not good at all.
I am just sorry we spent so many lives and so much money on such a stupid effort.
The Afghans are getting the new government they deserve. I hope they like it.

Maybe they've never seen or been around airplanes and dont understsand that happens if you try to hold onto one. Like when I was 5 and jumped off a tree holding an umbrella thinking it would slow my fall.

Why’d you turn it political? Has nothing to do with politics or finger pointing. My point still remains.

Re: Bodies Of Afghans Who Fell From Plane

Why is he wrapping that guys head up like he's still alive?
I'm not 100% certain, but I think it's part of the Islamic tradition when dealing with the dead. Transport, washing, shrouding, and burial can be quite involved, and this type of wrapping may be simple aesthetics.

Namely, it helps to keep the mouth from opening, and also can help to obscure trauma to the body.

In many western cultures, a similar thing is performed by morticians using sutures to keep the mouth closed. In conservative Muslim and Jewish traditions, the time between death and burial tends to be quick, so it's a quick fix for them.

Re: Bodies Of Afghans Who Fell From Plane

I think Disney is partially to blame for this. They’d all just recently seen Black Widow, you see, which had been edited down to only show the heroics of the male characters. Basically, their version consists of the Red Guardian riding on the wing of a plane and then fighting Task Master. Anyway, they probably thought it was a documentary and that anyone can just ride a plane on the outside by simply lying across it. I don’t even recall Guardian using his hands to hold on. Disney bears a lot of responsibility here.

Awesome post, LittleNightmare!
I had seen footage of people falling from the planes.. was wondering if something would pop up here in relation to that.

Re: Bodies Of Afghans Who Fell From Plane

~ The U.S. military is always expected to play the part of the global rescuer since a long time now.
~ They go in & soon are taken for granted that they will be there forever by the country being rescued.
~ Civilians as well as the domestic military soon slack off thinking they don't have to do much else, since it is no longer primarily their responsibilty.
Therefore having their Visa/passport papers is not a priority, not even in case of an emergency, since they are in such good helping hands, indefinitely.
~ Having the Taliban taking over all of the country of Afghanistan in such a shocking short time period is just another testament to that
~ U.S. Foreign military policy needs to be revised & amended because of these consistent facts.
~ I expect Russian impetus to actually go in & do the final cleanup quite nicely.
I dunno about Russia, they tried that 42 years ago and it didn't work out too well for them.
