Re: Birmingham Aston Expressway Yesterday

A man has died after falling from a bridge onto a Birmingham motorway.

The man fell from the bridge onto the A38M Aston Expressway early on Thursday (April 2) morning.

Emergency services were called to the motorway just before 6am.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has sadly died after falling from a bridge on A38 in Birmingham at 6am this morning (2 April). Unfortunately nothing could be done to save the man’s life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner. The road has since re-opened."

The incident led to both carriageways of the expressway being closed for over an hour. Two lanes of the out-of-city carriageway reopened around 8am, but the remaining lane and all lanes on the inbound side stayed closed until 9.30am.

Despite it being lockdown with not many cars on the road, the closure did cause some traffic queues.

The death came just hours after a woman died in an unconnected incident after being found lying in the road outside a Black Country hospital. She was discovered in High Street, Pensnett, at around 12.30am on Thursday.

Oh wow, great find there. Rarely ever get anything from England. I'd be too chicken to post anything from here (not as if I ever come across anything anyway).

"His death is not being treated as suspicious"? Must happen all the time around there that people fall onto the roadway from an overpass.
