Bangladeshi Rickshaw Driver Carbonized After Gas Cylinder Exploded
In Chandanaish, Chittagong, Bangladesh, an auto-rickshaw driver, Abdus S., was “burnt to ashes on the spot” when his vehicle was set alight after a gas cylinder exploded. According to eyewitnesses, Abdus was driving his rickshaw with a female passenger on the highway when he encountered a police checkpoint. When he attempted to make a U-turn, he collided into a sand dumper truck. The gas cylinder exploded in the collision, setting the vehicle alight. Locals were able to rescue the woman. Police have paid Abdus’s family 25,000 taka, or around USD$228. |
