Re: Bangladesh Army’s Chinese Origin Type 59 Tank Exploded During Exercise
The fatal incident occurred at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in the Chattogram district. While the ISPR initially termed the event a tank-firing accident, military analysts and local sources report that the explosion was caused by a catastrophic barrel rupture while firing ammunition. The internal pressure caused secondary explosions inside the hull, destroying the tank's fire control systems. Actually it's a copy of the old sovjet T-54A. The Bangladesh army operates multiple configurations of this older chinese platform, incl. the heavily upgraded Type 59G variant, though un-upgraded units are still frequently deployed for live-fire training exercises.
