Afghanistan, The Taliban police command told that armed robbers entered a gold shop and killed two goldsmiths who were brothers, and injured another person.

In a statement, the command said that the incident occurred on Monday, March 23.

The Taliban police command said that the two brothers were killed after they resisted the armed robbers.

The command added that the robbers fled the area after the killing, and efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest them.

Local sources told that the two brothers were named Khal Mohammad and Mohammad Nabi, and they were working as goldsmiths.

According to the sources, Khal Mohammad was also the head of the goldsmiths’ union in the district.

In a video of the incident, the robbers can be seen wearing Taliban military uniforms, entering the shop and engaging with the people inside.

Previously, there have also been reports of robberies carried out by individuals wearing Taliban military uniforms.

Since the Taliban took power in 2021, Afghanistan has experienced changes in its security landscape.

While the authorities have often claimed improvements in overall security, incidents of targeted killings, armed robberies, and crimes carried out by individuals impersonating security forces have raised concerns among the public.

Such incidents highlight ongoing challenges in maintaining law and order, as well as issues related to accountability and public trust in security institutions.

In a report published last year, the UK-based Afghan rights group Rawadari documented at least 251 cases of mysterious, targeted and extrajudicial killings over a six-month period, marking a 30% increase compared with the same period the previous year.

Western governments, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, continue to warn their citizens against traveling to Afghanistan due to widespread violence, armed robberies, targeted attacks, and lawlessness.
