Those neurons in her brain were firing into overdrive. I don't think anyone beheaded dies immediately, unless there is traumatic brain injury. They like slowly fade out from a world of pain, due to oxygen and nutrient loss

as soon as the sleep artery is cut they go to sleep - die... won't feel a thing.
