It was designed for people like him.

It wasn't his blood sugar that killed him. His heart stopped working and as it was likely lifestyle related it could've happened anytime if his been a big fella all his life.

Paramedic here, if you listen close to when LE get there, you can hear the one of camera say something to the effect of “he’s cold to the touch…I’m not going to start…”

While he has comorbidities, it’s a witnessed arrest and down time is about 10 minutes with attempted cpr (whether good or bad compressions). Regardless of his size he’s still in a window to code him successfully. Wish the video didn’t cut off because I’d like to see whether EMS had the same thoughts or if they pronounced him immediately.

Also, there was no attempt to jaw thrust or secure the airway, no defibrillation. I'm sure the rescue may have attempted some of this, possibly even intubation, but I'm also pretty sure he was pronounced on scene. I do commend the neighbor though. He was pretty awesome. People live far apart in rural areas and he rushed over to help being a new neighbor and tried to comfort the mom while also following directions over the phone to attempt compressions the best he could with no formal training.
