Air Tank Explosion During Repairs Claims the Life of Vietnamese Worker
Đồng Nai, Vietnam On the evening of August 18, officials from the People's Committee of Phước Bình Ward stated that authorities are investigating the cause of an air tank explosion that resulted in a fatality in the area. According to reports, the incident occurred around noon that day at a workshop specializing in the repair of used air tanks. Mr. T.Q.T., born 1997, was killed instantly when a tank exploded. The facility reportedly specializes in purchasing used air tanks for repair and resale. At the time of the explosion, Mr. T. had climbed up to inspect and repair a used tank when it suddenly exploded violently. The force of the blast threw the victim to the ground; he succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene. |

Anybody have a rough idea of how many explosions we get per year on DR from people welding and grinding on pressurized/fuel vessels?

They're not air tanks, they're boilers. Mostly Lancashire-type fire-tube boilers. There's also a locomotive tank engine boiler in the background, blue one with saddle water tanks. The one he was working on (a Lancashire) was full of fumes which he ignited with his grinder.
