Didn't flush out the condensation inside that eventually rusted and corroded the container. All that water at the end is from inside.

On a serious note, I think it’s much more likely that a pressure switch stuck or contacts melted together than a rusted tank. I’ve seen compressed air tanks that had pinholes that rusted through. Gradual pressure building in tank blows out the pinholes. And Freon tanks that rusted through that’s under higher pressure. A catastrophic rupture like that was much more likely to have been over pressurized rather than have being under normal operating pressure and having a weak spot in tank. They probably had rigged the pressure relief valve to stay closed because it kept popping off further suggesting the contacts were stuck closed. |
