I just found some mysterious folder simply labeled 'executions' in my personal video collection, and found this. I don't believe it's been posted here before.

Almost all AK ammo have bullets that are jacketed with mild steel.

Sparks result from the high speed metal on metal contact between the mild steel jacketed bullet and the steel barrel.

Since the jacketing steel is mild, it does not wear out the barrel unduly.

Sparks are always generated when an AK is fired, but they are not noticeable in daylight conditions.
