Helmets for fuck sake.
Yes, indeed. They were probably speeding on the straight and lost control. They still would've received massive body damage from the look of the reck.

Town in shock after men die in Thailand motorcycle crash

TWO young men from Llanelli have died in a motorcycle crash while on holiday in Thailand.

Alex George and Matthew Jenkins, who were both 23, died in the early hours of yesterday morning in the popular holiday destination of northern Pattaya.

They were a week into a two-week holiday with friends Nick Harris and Ross Robinson.

Witnesses, according to Thai newspapers, told police that the bike the two men were riding on, a black and orange Honda CBR, crashed into a pavement in front of a shopping centre and the men were thrown into a sign in front of the store.

The Foreign and Commonwealth’s travel advice for Thailand warns: “Riding a motorcycle or scooter in Thailand can be dangerous. On average 38 people a day die in motorcycle accidents in Thailand.”

The men’s bodies were taken to Bang Lamung Hospital.

A spokesman at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the two deaths and said the next of kin had been informed.

He said: “We can confirm the death of the two British nationals in Thailand.

“We have informed the next of kin and we are offering consular assistance.

“We are awaiting official reports from the Thai police.”

Yesterday hundreds of friends paid tribute to the pair on the social networking site Facebook.

Mr George was described on the website as a “great friend” and “the type of person that everyone liked and loved”.

One friend wrote: “A genuinely nice guy, excellent colleague and friend.” Another said: “I’m going to miss you both so much and you will never be forgotten.”

Mr Jenkins was described as a “lovely genuine boy” and “the best and most caring person.”

One of his friends left a message saying: “RIP buddy you have left a lasting impression on everyone you met. You will never be forgotten.”

Another friend left a message saying: “You were well respected and admired by so many, and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. I’m going to miss you so much. I’m heartbroken”.

Llanelli councillor John Paul Jenkins said the two men were very popular and the town was deeply saddened over their deaths.

He said: “It’s terrible news. Four boys have gone on holiday and to have been killed on their first week. You go on holiday for a quiet time and to enjoy yourself and expect to come home safe. It’s a great tragedy.

“Everyone in the town has been talking about it, and all our hearts go out to their families, they have our thoughts and sympathies.

“There’s nothing words can say. It’s just an awful tragedy.”

Around 812,000 British nationals visited Thailand in 2008.

The city of Pattaya, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand is known for its Pattaya and Jomtien beaches. The city is also known for its nightlife, which centres around the Walking Street.

TWO Llanelli men who died in a horror motorcycle smash in Thailand may have been trying to avoid a dog, an inquest has heard.

Matthew Jenkins, aged 24 of Granby Close, Morfa, and 23-year-old Alex George of Llwynhendy Road were on a lads holiday with friends Ross Robinson and Nick Harris in Pattaya when tragedy struck on May 22 last year.

The Llanelli inquest heard how the two former Bryngwyn Comprehensive School pupils died on route two of North Pattaya, when their orange Honda 'superbike' crashed in front of the Big C department store.

Police reports state that Mr Jenkins was riding the bike at 'very high speeds' with Mr George riding pillion.

Giving evidence from Thai police collision reports, coroner's assistant David Williams said the investigating officer at the time was lieutenant colonel Suphachai Phuikaeokham.

"He said he was informed by police radio that there was an accident involving a motorcycle and that there was two fatal injuries," he added.

"The bike was found lying on the road with two foreign nationals lying dead at the same area.

"The men took a sharp bend, lost control of the bike and crashed and fell on the road.

"The two men fell off the motorbike, hit their heads on the road and died."

Their bodies were identified by fingerprint testing and by sheets of paper found in their pockets.

Family members told Carmarthenshire Coroner John Owen during proceedings that they had been told the bike swerved to avoid a dog which ran into the road.

This fact was also mentioned in a pathology report by consultant pathologist John Kevin Murphy of West Wales General Hospital, Carmarthen.

Mr Owen said it was a difficult task to get exact details of what caused the crash, as the incident happened abroad.

He also said toxicology examinations could not be carried out to trace alcohol, due to the embalming procedures used, which affected body fluids.

He delivered a verdict of accidental death on both men.

He said: "I am quite sure that the accident was not due to negligence of another motorist.

"I offer the families my sincere sympathy in these tragic circumstances."

The pair have been previously described by devastated friends as being "loved by everyone" and a "brilliant laugh".

Alex's sister Victoria George previously said the family were very grateful for support shown by the town following the death of her brother.

"It's been a rollercoaster ride for the entire family, but people have been amazing," she said.

"The whole town has come out and shown us as much support as possible — it's been really overwhelming."

Re: Accident in Thailand Leaves 2 British Men Faceless

This shit happens all the time over here; guys come on holiday, get all drunk and excited, carried away with the purported lack of law enforcement, forget common sense, rent big fast bikes, go out and get shit faced at all night bars on cheap beer, ride around at stupid speeds, dressed in shorts and no helmets, then they crash and burn.

There IS a reason they have speed limits and drink drive laws in most countries, yet people come to Asia and seem to feel they are above the law and common sense. Fuckwits.
