~ I don't think the car overtaking was familiar with this road. If he had been, then he would not have attempted such a maneuver, knowing that a car would emerge out of an existing intersection. It even had it's high beams on, as if trying to intimidate the car ahead to speed up.
~ So instead of colliding with the car that it was trying to overtake, it lost control & struck the unwary pedestrians who seemed to be just casually strolling along just enjoying the day view.

usual idiots on the road

one driver does the usual arrogant act of pulling out onto the road in front of oncoming cars disregarding every other road user
and for some reason the 2nd driver loses a car that is in an almost unlosable situation . . . for such an expert level of driving skill, they would want to hope a tyre or 2 was low on pressure or the vehicle was never going to get anywhere near passing the moose test
