Re: 4 Killed when Adults and Kids Horse Around at the Train Tracks
Is it that fun hanging around railroad tracks? Does the imminent risk of death make life worth living over there or something? Hell, maybe I am missing out... |

Re: 4 Killed when Adults and Kids Horse Around at the Train Tracks
No, I KNOW that was true at one point. I think the transcontinental trains used to just dump on the tracks in the 1920's and 1930's. I have been to train museums where, when you open the toilet lid, you are looking at the ground beneath. But I worked with a chick mechanic who worked on locomotives in Omaha, Nebraska, and she said the toilets for the crews are under the big nose bump fairing on diesels. there is a side door on it, and the crew just steps down into the toilet area. The waste is contained in tanks, and they have running water to wash their hands and clean up. They guys who service and refuel the locomotives drain these tanks when they are sitting over night. So maybe they haven't been pooping on the rails since the 50's. But like I said, our tracks were just a short route line, so maybe they never had to go. |
