I wonder if that shot came from the helicopter ? The retort was very loud and if I was sniping I would not want to be that close to a mob in a building.

Have you ever fired a high powered rifle in a situation like that? The main sound you hear is the bullet entering and exiting his head.

Matter of fact I have and own & collect all the major military sniper files including a m1, m14, Mosin Nagant &50cal , what you hear is the rifle and the bullet hitting the ground. A 7.62 x 54r or 30.06 will go though a head like a watermelon the sound of which would be overpowered by a close sniper. What is your experience with high-powered riles? ps Don't worry about that red dot on your forehead you won't hear a thing : ) |

M24 SWS, M14 EBR, M82A1, STEYR SSG 08, everything you listed and several more. "Laser sights" are useless for a sniper. All they are good for is CQB. Red sucks. Green is better. |

My favorite at the moment is the Steyr SSG 08 .338 LaupaMag. One of my all time favorites is the first generation SVD (Dragunov). I am still waiting to get my hands on the Desert Tactical SRS (Stealth Recon Scout). Some of the noise was from the head. I didn't state the impact of the round in the pavement because I thought it was a given. The shooter was close (within 200 to 250 m) from the look of the possible positions in the buildings. Also, sound echoes very loud in urban situations like that. |
