2 Students Drowned at Dam at Tourist Location
Two lives were lost at a dam in the Sumbawa regency, Indonesia at around 2 PM today. M. and D. A, two students, were found drowned at the tourist location. The two were found after nearly an hour long search. The two victims arrived with 4 friends on 3 motorbikes to the tourist dam spot around noon. But the unlucky current dragged them both to the bottom of the dam. The Police arrived at the location after receiving a report from the locals. Together with the community, the members conducted a search and managed to find and evacuate both of them. M's body was found at around 2:45 PM, and 20 minutes later D.A's body. The residents had provided first aid, starting CPR. But these efforts did not produce results so both victims were pronounced dead. The bodies of the two students were taken to the medical center by ambulance. After that, handed over to the victim's families and parents to be sent back to a funeral home. |

Re: 2 Students Drowned at Dam at Tourist Location
Two things. Not being disrespectful but why are allowing these children/teens to play around in turbulent waters when swimming is not a popular skillset. Just have a rope float on hand or one capable person to stand watch with a whistle. Also, bystanders taking time to film the dead being pulled out and carried, but not lending a hand is so obnoxious. What must the families think of their worst day being immortalized for snapchat or twitch fodder. That one boy was like 6 years old and standing there filming and taking pictures - for what? to relive later on with his buddies? Appears shameless and ignorant. |

They created a beehive of confusion.. Even advanced swimmers could succumb if they panic in the water.. Bodies of water where people swim will produce accidents.. Swim at your own risk |

Re: 2 Students Drowned at Dam at Tourist Location
I don't know how / when they realized two were missing. There are so many people in those parts of the world, like that picture of about 10,000 Chinese in the ocean at the beach. If you loose a couple, you might have to wait until the bodies float in when the crowd subsides. Reminds me of a skier that died at Wolf Creek recently. He got stuck in a tree(s) within sight of a lift, I think he died from exposure and not injuries. They didn't realize someone was missing until there was a car left in the parking lot and found him the next morning. |

Rip tides, undertows and roll over weirs/dams are the shit even experienced swimmers die from. It pays to be a smart swimmer as well and give those dangers a wide berth. |
