Why the hell would you say they are dumb. It appears like they were sitting just under the bridge. If you're there, relaxing or whatever, just sitting, and suddenly you hear a giant bang and see a truck hitting the bridge, in a second you get up and want to run away from the bridge. We can see it from this video material and know something is about to happen and we oversee it all, when you're in such a situation you're just minding your business and you wouldn't be able to decide in a second if the truck was coming your way or not (i bet they already ran in that direction instinctively, away from the danger is must have felt like).

Well... not exactly. I grew up on a Main street in my town. It was a highway that went right through town. Only a 2 lane highway (one in each direction), but large trucks still used that highway. My parents often made us walk home from school and I remember when I was little my mom telling me that I can't trust ANY vehicles to drive safely and to grow eyes on the back of my head when walking home. I won't even pull over for police on the side of a major highway. I'll take the first exit, or look for a wide shoulder to park. The cops will give you shit for it, but hey, my life is more important than the cop's intentions.
This is simple to teach children. But many people don't even teach their kids to look both ways before crossing the street.

You are there, chilling on the grass, when a truck comes roaring at the speed of light towards you and the moment you turn your head to check what the fuck is going on your nose is already 10 cm away from the freakin smoking tyre and I can totally see you thinking "hm, ok, let's run left, that's what mummy told me. Wait, where is the traffic flow again? Gad maybe it wasn't the truck that made this sound. I know right, my momma says I'm a smart kid. Maybe I should go back chilling."
