Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

Indeed. Although the water looks calm, beneath it is treacherous. Looks certainly can be deceiving.
That was sad, especially the second guy who was trying to help. The current must have been strong underneath.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

Except that the idiot with camera was encouraging someone to go in the water: “Somebody better get in there!” Why didn’t he put his phone down and jump in there himself??
seems like if you were on site we could have a video with three people drowning...
what woud you have done? there wasn't enough time to get a rope or make one out of shirts or sth. similiar. As other persons stated before, there are some currents which even caused professionals to drown, but yeah you would have saved them

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

I doubt that the emergency services would have arrived in time to save the men though.
I agree. Still very difficult to just watch them drown. Not sure what I'd do, but it wouldn't be jumping in to save them.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

They were pulled down. The first guy could've saved his life by holding on to the driftwood. He got scared and let it go. Huge rivers in America weren't designed for human beings to swim in them.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

Holy shit! I'm from Buffalo, and never heard this story. Shit, used to hang down there and party when we were teenagers. I wouldn't go in that water if you paid me.
Me too!!

Great place to chill and smoke buds and have a few beers.

We were taught never to go in that fuckin water.

Buffalo made DR, wooohooo!

Go Bills!!!

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

It's pretty obvious when dude tries to turn around while holding the log that he's going fucking nowhere no matter how hard he kicks. That sub-surface current must have been pretty damn strong. Sucked their dumb asses right in.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

It’s not the current or undertow or any of that shit. Poor sap panicked a huge mistake in water! That will cost you a life or more... unfortunate

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York

You could have snagged every piece of that wood with an $8 dollar fishing pole

When the drowning person sits on your goddamn head priceless
Yeah, it was Darwin at work, if you ask me

Dying because you are so poor that you need to fish out wood from stinky tunnels. Good work and good riddance, their death was pure justice

Died for a piece of driftwood. Jesus Christ.
No, Jesus Christ died *on* a piece of driftwood. But you were pretty close there.
