all depends on the angle of entry, hitting water from over 25ft can kill you from the blunt force trauma and expulsion of oxygen due to the huge increase in pressure when hitting a non compressible substance such as water |

They didnt go deep because they landed wrong. You really think you are going to plunge deep into water after a back or belly flop? If so, you failed 1st grade physics and LIFE! The first guy passed out of the pain and possible internal injuries. The second likely was knocked out on impact and drowned...

You can see the beach just off to the right of the screen - they werent too far from land. The water was probably only a couple feet deep...
