Re: 17 Year Old Skater Going Downhill Hit and Killed by a Car
Darwinism at it best I agree. But not to start a debate or anything, but when you think about it we mess with his concept all the time, for example, keeping people alive that perhaps shouldn't be, the development of medication to keep those who would have died naturally alive and so forth. Survival of the fittest is best demonstrated in nature, its to ensure that only the fittest of animals survive and go on to ensure that that species stays strong as possible.

Re: 17 Year Old Skater Going Downhill Hit and Killed by a Car
I have to strongly disagree with this. Factor: Fine line between stupidity and rewarding risk In this case.. Blatant stupidity Most people don't set themselves up for failure. Taking risk that will end up killing them. The reward and pay off better be worth the prize.. In this case specifically: Reward = 1) Fun ride down the hill. 2) A cool video to show your friends and post on YouTube 3) Memories of living life on the edge and getting away with it Risk = 1) Getting hurt 2) Death 3) Both 1 and 2 I get what you are saying in regards to living life on the edge, but one must think about the consequences if the risk they are taking goes horribly wrong. I'm sure that kid wanted to continue living his life like he has been, but judgement clouded how cool it would be to pull off a stunt like this.. |

Re: 17 Year Old Skater Going Downhill Hit and Killed by a Car
If we never experience risking our lives, we haven't hit our full potential. It is in our DNA to take risks and survive. That is why we do stuff like this and base jumping. We used to need to do that; now, in the safety of civilization, it's just for the rush.
