Well, yes, you CAN, but you what I should’ve said is you shouldn’t, not unless there’s some nexus to violence, either wanted for felony violence, or where failure to apprehend causes risk of serious harm to others. In this case had i known about the 5 prior high speed pursuits before this one, and the threat to run the cops over, i’d have already known this standard was met as far as I’m concerned. However the police in France are expected to wear kid gloves so i guess copper goes to jail for making the world a safer place.

In France they have the Napoleonic code, the police can search you at any time for any reason, they don't have the protections that we have in the United States. In France, cops carry Uzis. I would never fuck with a French cop.

I don't know bout y'all but if I'm stopped by police who's pointing a gun at my face and telling me they'll shoot me in the head I stop listening and start running. You can't blame anyone for responding with stupid shit when the police do stupid shit first. Humans still have animal fight/flight instinct after all.

Also it's common that police "let" car runners go without chase bc chasing puts lives at risk; including the police and the driver. They can order the driver to court later or arrest him later they already got all the info and evidence they need. The shot was probably panic reaction I get that, but it was also unnecessary. It's not what police are trained to do (at least not here).
