Mexico, A 16-year-old teenager was arrested for running over a couple of grandparents who were walking through the streets.

The couple were walking down the street when a Ford Escape pick-up appears in the middle of the road and heads towards the elderly, who have no opportunity to escape and are rammed.

The couple of grandparents are carried on the hood of the truck for several meters before falling to the ground. The driver stops after the road accident.

Paramedics arrived to support the injured but the 64-year-old woman died at the scene, while the 65-year-old man was taken to a hospital but hours later he also died.

Initial investigations indicated that the young man, identified as B. “N”, would have taken the vehicle without permission from the owner, who is the independent mayor candidate.

Through a statement, the candidate's campaign office assured the father did not give his consent for the teenager to take the vehicle to circulate on the street, since he was not in the city, but elsewhere when the accident occurred.

B. "N" got detained and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for corresponding investigations.
